Starr has worked for over 15 years as an emergency paramedic and 4 years as a psychologist. She has gained extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of people of all ages presenting with psychological crises such as psychosis, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation throughout her career.

In addition to the experience Starr has gained as a psychologist and paramedic, Starr has also developed her supportive capacity and counselling skills whilst working as a funeral assistant.

Starr is empathic, open-minded and provides support for her patients, creating an environment which allows patients to be open and honest and build trusting relationships.

The multitude of experiences through Starr’s emergency paramedic career and general life sparked her desire to branch into psychological health, where she aims as a psychologist to give clients hope and tools to manage their mental health difficulties in order to reach their full potential and enjoy an improved quality of life.

Starr works with individuals to assist them in learning to manage their difficulties and achieve the level of functioning they desire. Starr uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat a range of psychological difficulties such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, panic attacks and stress.
